East Kilbride Athletic Club - Running Club located in Scotland

Dear All I would like to confirm that SLA finished 1st in the 1st meeting last week at Wishaw with over 570 points. Second place went to Central with 410ish points. The points have still to be verified and scrutinised, this should be done by the end of the week. Thank you to all the coaches, parents, volunteers and of course the athletes for a tremendous effort in securing a winning start for SLA in the SYAL. The next meeting is on 1st June at Grangemouth and the team management would prefer all athletes selected to travel on the bus to Grangemouth. yes well done paul mcnamee, thats great for ekaac to have a coach picked for scotland, i remember watching paul in the 1986 west of scotland 100mtre final, which was won by cameron sharp, paul matched him for 75mtrs , it was one of the best races i have watched because there were a few big names in the race and it was a blanket finish with all 8 sprinters,,,,,

South Lanarkshire Athletics Partnership are competing as a combined team in two leagues this summer. The National Junior League and the Scottish Young Athletes League. To be eligible for selection you MUST fill out a registration form and return it to Jim Goldie at the address below (these are attached however if you need a paper copy please ask your coach). The dates of the available meetings are:- NJAL on 29th June, 27th July the NJAL is open to Under 17 and Under 20 athletes. (Please note all EKAC athletes will be missing from the first two NJAL meetings as these clash with our Division 1 CSSAL dates. Jim Goldie knows this and it will not cause any problems re selection for the last two meetings). SYAL on 4th May, 1st June, 6th July the SYAL is open to Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 athletes. IMPORTANT INFORMATION CHANGE TO CLUB START/FINISH TIMES The Club Committee have decided that due to congestion in the John Wrights Car Park at 7 pm to change the club start time to 7:15 pm. This decision has been agreed upon in order to keep our young athletes safe and well when arriving and leaving the club. Therefore from Tuesday 4th March the club will now train on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s between 7:15 pm–8:30 pm. Car Park difficulties have been an issue for some time now resulting in a number of our athletes turning up late for training sessions. It has been noted that if you arrive at 7:05 pm–7:10 pm there are no bottle necks and a considerable number of free spaces when compared to arriving before 7pm. It would therefore be appreciated in order to help with the management of all coaching sessions that ALL ATHLETES ARRIVE AT CLUB HOUSE FOR 7:15 PM PROMPT. The committee would like to thank everyone in advance for their efforts to support the coaches, and therefore your child’s coaching, with this change of club start time. As of this date could I remind all parents of athletes in the Under 13’s and U11’s age group to escort their children to the Club House and pick them up from their after training as is Club policy.

Dear All North and South Lanarkshire are joining forces this year to send a team of 4 athletes to the International Children’s Games, being held in San Francisco, USA during the month of July 2008. CRITERIA Athletes must have been born in 1993/ 94/ 95/ 96. The above times are from previous games and athletes should have a minimum Standard C. All times must have been achieved in a UKA or SAL competition and qualify for UK rankings. Time trials or club competitions will not be considered as proof of time or distance. Times from indoors and outdoors will be considered as long as the comply with the above rules. Times and distances from 1st April 2007 will be considered. All athletes must be current residents of North or South Lanarkshire. Where we have a number of athletes inside the C standard qualification we will calculate in percentages how far they are inside the standard. Dear All I would like to wish all members a Happy New Year and wish everyone involved in athletics all the bets in 2008. As part of the continued development of athletics in SL, the SLAP have agreed to enter a team into the SYAL. If you are in the following age groups - Under 13/ 15/ 17 and are a 1st claim member of East Kilbride AC, then you qualify for selection to this team. There are no standards for this league. SLAP require that all athletes complete a registration form for the league. Just to confirm that the bus for Blackpool is leaving John Wright at 6.45am as stated on your initial invite. We are still in a position to offer seats to those who wish to travel on the bus to Blackpool, you can watch a bit of athletics and then head into Blackpool for the day. This option is open to over 18's only!! The seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis. No athlete that is competing will be able to leave the stadium, so don't ask.
