About Us
EKAC was founded in 1959 and we are affiliated to Scottish Athletics Ltd.
We cater for road running, cross country, hill running and track and field events with the minimum age being eight years, there is no upper age limit.
The club trains on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evening at the East Kilbride Stadium. We also have a senior road running section who meet at the Sports Centre on a Monday at 7pm (ask for Graeme Haddow or Kelly Smith).
Currently the club is flourishing with a large young athlete section most of whom compete regularly in track, cross country, road and hill races. The club competes in the Central South Scotland League Two having been promoted last year as Champions.
As a club we hold two events per athletic year. We organise a Fun Run in June, which is aimed at Primary 6 and 7 pupils and pupils from 1st and 2nd year at High School. This event is well supported by the local schools and attracts about 200 runners per year. Our other event is the Hugh Wilson 10K Memorial Road Race, which is run in December. This race is for seniors only and attracts about 250 runners from all over Scotland .
The club is also committed to working in conjunction with Diet Coke for the annual half marathon and 10Km which sees 2000 people take to the streets of East Kilbride. Diet Coke Half maraton and 10Km website.
The club also is in the third year of a ten year development plan.
