About Us - History

Welcome to the home of East Kilbride Athletic Club. We are a Scottish Athletics affiliated running club situated at John Wrights Sports Centre, East Kilbride, Scotland. We cater for road running, cross country, hill running and track and field events with the minimum age being eight years, there is no upper age limit.

Well done to everyone who competed for the South Lanarkshire Team especially the dudes from EKAC :-)

From the club there were some fine performances including Club Records from Ailis Clements overall and U17 Discus with a throw of 28.37m and Ross Maxwell U13 boys 200m with a time of 26.8 seconds. Well done to both.

The members of East Kilbride Athletic Club were delighted with the start that they have made to this summer’s athletic fixtures. On Sunday the club finished in a fine 6th position in the first Central and South Scotland Athletic League Division 1 fixture.

Within that performance there were numerous excellent performances including a series of first places and these came from the following athletes:-

Under 13 Boys Ross Maxwell A 100m 13.2 and A Long Jump 4m77cm. Under 17 Men Gregor Thorpe A Long Jump 5m 18cm, Nishant Puri B 100m 12.4 and Ross Morgan B Long Jump 4m 88cm. Senior Men Jamie Clements A 400m 51.6. Masters Men William Taylor A 800m 2:13.0 and Derek Leitch 800m B 2:13.1.

Under 13 Girls Shannon McMahon A 100m 14.3, Under 15 Girls Hayley Middleton A Discus 16.94 and Rachel Thomson B Discus 14.20. Senior Women Beth Duff A 400m 58.4 and Ailis Clements A Shot Put 9m 51cm.

These performances bode well for the coming season. The club are now looking forward to working with the South Lanarkshire Athletics Partnership at next week’s Scottish Young Athletes league and the West of Scotland Championships the following week.
